Having previously read the author’s “The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Of The Apocalypse” (how can you resist a title like that?) and enjoying it I picked up this title.

Its fair to say that describing the plot wouldn’t be sensible, but it involves alien TV producers struggling to spice up the ratings on the reality show “Earthers”, a time travelling sprout, Elvis and God.

Rankin manages to make you laugh and keep page turning, the action is fast and highly inventive and fun to read. But there is a bit of tendency to pop things out of the hat to move the story along, everything is sacrificed for the gag and the characters are thin. I’ll still track down the sequels though.
