Curse of the Wererabbit

StarringPeter Sallis and Helena Bonham Carter Score5

Plasticine doesn’t get much better than this. Wallace and Gromits new company “anti-pesto” is doing a great trade keeping the pests away from the villagers prize vegetables. That is until a monster starts wrecking havoc among the veg.

And these folk are serious about their veg with the coveted golden carrot due to be awarded at the prize show by local dignitary Lady Tottingham (‘totty’ to friends). But with days to go W&Gs name is mud as veg is vandalised, and our heroes have one last chance to capture the monster and redeem themselves in the villagers (and more importantly tottys) eyes.

You soon lose sight of it being animation, this is just a cracking film, well paced and with great characters and plot. The humor is constant, wry and decidedly British and the sets are meticulous. But the real star is Gromit. How a non-speaking Plasticine dog can create so much emotion is stunning. I’d be surprised if this didn’t get some Oscar awards.
