An alien device is discovered in Egypt that turns out to be a stargate or teleport to another world. Nerdy egyptologist Dr. Daniel Jackson (Spader) and grieving Col. O’Neil (Russsell) team up to explore whats on the other side, with no guarantee they can return.

Only to discover that the Egyption god Ra is no myth and humans are still enslaved on a remote planet. In the process of working together they discover renewed purposes for their lives and perhaps a bigger problem for Earth.

Great idea, competently done which leads nicely onto the excellent TV series Stargate SG1.
