This course is covering the basic ideas of building modern internet applications. The concepts, at least in the first part of the course, are very lightweight - the idea of a protocol for example. Its sound but feels a little dated as it discusses examples that have since long faded in “internet time”. Assignments have a java programming component which is a doddle. Max marks on those questions then :) As usual for me the marks are dropped in assignments because of something not done just so - the questions to me frequently have a range of meaning, the danger of perhaps reading too much in things. Taking this alongside another course means I’m finding time tight, but hopefully my existing knowledge of the concepts will pull it all through. 1-apr-09 well the final TMA disnt come back as good as it could have. it only had two questions, one of which was a hefty essay type question. I slightly misjudged the question and didnt provide enough discussion of the required technology, but then to a techi explaining the technology IS the discussion. Ah well… 16-jun-09 final exam results back and as expected the exam result is less then the ability shown in the assignments which is frustrating. So a pass overall which is slightly dissappointing as I’d thought I’d nailed most of the exam paper really well.
