Just handed in the fourth assignment in the quest for a MSc. It felt like a real slog at this point with some serious motivation loss.

Motivation’s not a big issue, hey- I do most of life with very little motivation: routine and just get on with it is my approach. But the dissertation is at that stage where a lot of threads have to come together and actually get written up into a coherent document. It’s then you find just how much a building site your text is. So a rather messy submission which will be lucky to score anything. Thankfully, this assignment carries no final marks but I think its been good to be forced to focus on building the final document. After all it’s the text that is marked, not the work or time or effort. There is now just 17 weeks till the final deadline and it still feels like a mountain of things to do. On the plus side its doable and I feel clear about what I need to actually do. The Open Uni are very good in making clear what the marking scheme is, so for instance I know that I need to strengthen my justification for using a particular method. So onward it is. A tight timetable to get everything done but rather glad to see some light at the tunnel end!
