1864. The American west. After an attack on her wagon train Sister Thomas Josephine is thrown into adventure and infamy that tests her faith, determination and character to the limits.
This was originally an e-series so the story has frequent cliffhangers to lead to the next installment. Just how many times can someone be shot, avoid the noose and fall off a cliff? Quite a lot it seems. Even if your not a fan of “the western” this still draws you in with its boistrous and enthusiastic storyline. And if you can go with the ‘penny dreadful’ style a more nuanced narrative emerges. The Sister Josephine towards the end of the book is tough, determined and forceful, perhaps more than a nun should be. But she is also happier and more realistic and compassionate towards people.
The cover art should have an award. It represents the book perfectly, unlike so many modern anodyne covers. A thoroughly enjoyable read and perhaps the basis of a a TV series.
