Rocket around Leicester

A day trip to Leicester with my sister, nieces and great-nieces was a chance to explore the Rocket round Leicester art trail, which as the title might suggest, involves brightly painted fibreglass(?) rockets placed around the city centre. Proceeds from an app providing a map and Pokemon-like “collect em” are donated to the local Loros hospice cause.

inspired by van Gogh perhaps?

Leicester is a suprisingly big centre, especially with toddlers in tow, so we only collected 14 of 79 sculptures. So what. It was lovely to have their company and mooch around the city, and the sculptures are genuinely artfully done. They get auctioned off after the event (which runs till 26th Sep ‘21) but they seem a bit OTT for a garden ornament. Better than a gnome I suppose…
